The Best Meeting Bot APIs in 2026: an Honest Comparison
Recall.ai, Meeting BaaS, Skribby, MeetStream, Attendee and Vexa compared on pricing, platforms, streaming and deployment — with the tradeoffs each vendor won't tell you about themselves.
Every comparison of meeting bot APIs is written by a vendor — including this one. So instead of pretending neutrality, here's the deal: we'll tell you what each competitor is genuinely good at, including where they beat us, and you can check every claim against the linked sources. All figures are from vendor websites as of August 2026.
The short version
| API | Headline pricing | Platforms | Standout | Tradeoff |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Meeting BaaS | 1 token/h ($0.35–0.50), transcription +0.25 | Zoom, Meet, Teams | Prepaid tokens, 6 transcription providers, on-prem, SLA on every plan | No Webex/Slack huddles |
| Recall.ai | $0.50/h + $0.15/h transcription | Zoom, Meet, Teams, Webex, GoTo, Slack huddles | Broadest platform list, Desktop SDK, SOC 2/HIPAA | À-la-carte pricing, SLA gated to enterprise |
| Skribby | $0.35/h, pass-through transcription | Zoom, Meet, Teams | Lowest headline rate, founder-level support | Receive-only bots — no streaming into meetings |
| MeetStream | $0.35/h (bot infra only — MIA agents custom-priced) | Zoom, Meet, Teams, Webex | In-meeting agent framework (voice/chat/actions), strong MCP tooling | Younger platform, smaller track record |
| Attendee | Free (self-hosted, open source) | Zoom, Meet, Teams | Full source control, no license fees at any scale | You run the infrastructure — bots are ops-heavy |
| Vexa | Free (self-hosted, open source) | Zoom, Meet, Teams, Jitsi | Real-time transcription, self-hosted | Younger, smaller community |
The details
Meeting BaaS (that's us)
One API for Zoom, Google Meet and Microsoft Teams. Recording is 1 prepaid token per hour with speaker diarization included; tokens never expire and packs run $0.50 down to $0.35 per token. Transcription from six providers (built-in Gladia or bring your own Deepgram/AssemblyAI/Speechmatics/Soniox key), real-time streaming in and out over WebSockets, calendar auto-scheduling, a 99.5% SLA on every plan, on-premises deployment, and open-source components including an MCP server. Honest gaps: no Webex or Slack huddles support, and no desktop recording SDK.
Recall.ai
The category creator and the broadest platform coverage: Zoom, Meet, Teams plus Webex, GoTo Meeting and Slack huddles, a Desktop Recording SDK, US/EU/JP data residency and SOC 2/HIPAA certifications. Pay-as-you-go is $0.50/hour recording plus $0.15/hour built-in transcription, with storage billed after 7 days; uptime guarantees require the enterprise tier. If you need Webex or formal certifications today, Recall.ai is the safe pick. Our full comparison: Recall.ai alternative.
Skribby
The price leader at a flat $0.35/hour with pass-through transcription pricing and notably direct founder support. Bots are receive-only — capture and transcribe, but nothing streamed into the meeting — which is fine for note-takers and a blocker for interactive agents.
MeetStream
Also $0.35/hour for the base Meeting Bot Infrastructure, covering Zoom, Meet, Teams and Webex — differentiated by its MIA in-meeting agent framework: bots that speak, post in chat and trigger actions, with MCP server connectivity, a CLI on npm and SDKs in several languages. MIA is a separate, custom-priced product, not included in the $0.35/hour rate. The most agent-forward of the hosted options; the tradeoff is a younger platform with less production track record.
Attendee (open source)
A genuinely open-source meeting bot API — Django app, single Docker image, Postgres and Redis. No license fee at any scale; self-hosting can cut costs dramatically if you have the ops capacity. Zoom, Google Meet and Microsoft Teams are all shipped today (Webex is the one item still on the roadmap). The honest caveat applies to all self-hosted bots: keeping headless meeting clients alive through platform UI changes, OBF token flows and four-hour calls is real, permanent operational work.
Vexa (open source)
Self-hosted with real-time transcription, supporting Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams and Jitsi Meet. Worth watching for teams comfortable running open-source infrastructure without a vendor's operational track record behind it.
